Gadsisar Sagar tank is not an oasis but a water conservation tank made around 1400 A.D by the Maharajas of Jaisalmer, Maharwal Gadsi Singh. Once it was used to control the entire supply of water tank to the unfertile city. It is located near Tilon Ki Gate in Jaisalmer state of Rajasthan. It is bordered by temples and tombs of saints. It is also one of the major tourist’s attractions of Jaisalmer. It is the main source of water to the people in the city and water is supplied from here.

ou can see many different varieties of temples and shrines surrounding the lake. The beautiful gateway that arches across the road down to the Lake was built by royal courtesan named Tillon in the end of 19th century, known as Tillon Ki Pul (Gate of Tillon). Lord Vishnu's statue was installed in the year 1908 A.D. or the gate by the courtesan & declared Krishna Temple to save it from demolition by the then Maharwal. Numerous tradition and culture also attract tourists. You see many things in Gadsisar Lake because it is known as the natural as well as historical beauty.

You can see everything around the lake by boat. Government has allowed riding boat in the lake for visiting purpose because of which tourists are more excited to sit in boat and see the wonderful lake. This lake has temple around it and you can see on your own foot one after another. You don’t need any extra vehicles to travel inside the lake except boat .And the main thing to remember is don’t forget to take a good pair of binoculars and SLR camera with a wide- angle lens if you want to take away some really mesmerizing snaps.
